Doomdooma: A young male Royal Bengal tiger may have died in a suspected territorial fight with another tiger in Assamโ€™s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.

Forest personnel spotted the carcass during routine patrolling near the Teteliguri forest camp in the Kohora Range on Friday and alerted park authorities. A team of officials later reached the site and recovered the body with the assistance of frontline forest staff.

The deceased tiger was estimated to be around four years old. Several parts of its body reportedly bore visible injury marks suspected to have been inflicted by another tiger.

Based on the nature of the injuries, park authorities suspect that the animal may have died following a territorial confrontation with another male tiger.

A veterinary team conducted a post-mortem examination in accordance with the prescribed procedures of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).

Following the examination, the carcass was disposed of through cremation in keeping with the applicable NTCA protocols.

The exact cause of the tiger’s death will be determined based on the post-mortem findings and the park authorities’ assessment.
