Mamata Banerjee also questioned why the central government abolished the Planning Commission which was first virtualized by Netaji.

โ€œNiti Aayog and Planning Commission can co-exist, Centre should reintroduce the panel,โ€ Banerjee said.

The Trinamool Congress chief also  demanded that the central government declare Netajiโ€™s birth anniversary a national holiday.

The Indian government recently declared that the birth anniversary would now be celebrated as โ€˜Parakram Diwasโ€™ every year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the year-long celebrations of โ€˜Parakram Diwasโ€™ from the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata.

The celebrations will also include an international conference on โ€˜Re-visiting the legacy of Netaji Subhash in the 21st centuryโ€™ and an artistsโ€™ camp at the National Library in Kolkata.
