The Hojai district unit of the Assam Chambers of Commerce has submitted a memorandum to Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev, demanding that a pillar be constructed in place of a wall guard up to the end of the railway overbridge in Hojai.
The railway overbridge is being constructed in the market situated in the heart of the town.
A wall guard that will extend till the end of the overbridge is to be soon constructed, which will block the road passing through the area on both sides.

“The Netaji Market is situated on one side and numerous shops, hotels and business establishments on the other side of the main road that passes through the area where the railway overbridge is situated,” said general secretary of the Hojai district unit, Ashok Kejriwal.
“Construction of a wall guard will block the road from both sides, causing immense problems for the public as well as shopkeepers in the area. If a pillar is built in its place, it will not block the road,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shiladitya Dev on Sunday assured the members that he will look into the matter.
