The terminated teachers of Tripura on Wednesday covered their eyes with black cloths to mark their protest in Agartala as Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde visited the capital city.
During the protest, the terminated teachers lined up on the street in the city, holding placards on their hands, which read as ‘Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, We also want to live’, ‘We are innocent, Save us’, ‘Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Give Us Food, Save Our Future’ and so on.
The agitating teachers covered their eyes with black cloths to symbolize that the country’s justice system has become blind to the issue of 10,323 terminated teachers.
The terminated teachers’ agitation entered the 17th day on Wednesday.

They have been protesting on the road since December 7, 2020, demanding their jobs back.
Chief Justice of India Bobde arrived in Agartala on Wednesday on a day-long visit.
A total of 10,323 teachers lost their jobs following verdicts passed by the Tripura High Court and the Supreme Court.
The terminated teachers wrote a letter to the CJI Bobde before his arrival in Agartala through the Tripura High Court seeking justice.
The terminated teachers’ indefinite agitation has also been joined by their family members.
They have been protesting under the banner of 10323 teachers’ Joint Movement Committee.
The former Left Front government recruited 10,323 teachers from 2010 to 2014.
But teachers lost their jobs on the basis of a verdict passed by the Supreme Court saying that their appointment was illegal.
Before the last State Assembly election, the BJP had promised the terminated teachers that they would be recruited again by bringing an amendment to the existing law.
The teachers lost their jobs on March 31, 2020.

On October 2 last, the members of three organizations of 10,323 teachers met Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
The teachers informed that during the meeting, the chief minister had promised to solve their problems within two months.
But as their problem has not been solved even after two months of the meeting, they have started the new movement, the agitators said.
The terminated teachers reminded the BJP about their promise to them before the 2018 election.
