The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) has allowed postgraduate students of Ayurveda to perform 39 general surgery procedures and 19 surgeries of eye, ears, nose and throat which are normally performed by surgeons of modern medicine.
“This is a matter of grave concern for all as it involves patient safety and can have deleterious effects in the long run,” the IMA said.
“Such a mixopathy will destroy the purity of the systems which belief differently and practice differently,” it added.
