The All India Kishan Sabha (AIKS) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement the recommendations by the committee, headed by agricultural scientist Dr. MAS Swaminathan in a bid to revoke the farm bills.

The farmers across the country continue to protest against Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and Farmer’s (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 passed by the Parliament.

The All India Kishan Sabha made its stand clear in a memorandum sent to Prime Minister Modi from North Lakhimpur on Thursday through the deputy commissioner of Lakhimpur district.

Led by the district president of All India Kishan Sabha, Girindra Prasad Upadhyay, the memorandum demanded that police atrocities against the protesting farmers be stopped.

Farmers from different parts of the country have been protesting in Delhi against the farm bills since November 27.

The farmers’ body said 250 farmers’ organizations marched towards Delhi in protest against the farm bills and they were inhumanely obstructed by the police on the outskirts of Delhi by digging trenches on roads, dumping heaps of earth on the way and spraying water cannons on them.

Earlier, the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and its students’ wing Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) staged a demonstration against the farm bills at Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district on Wednesday.
