From the type of tree to the food people select, everything big or small can make a huge difference, it said.

“The key is to incorporate small changes and considerations into our normal routine, think about the items we buy, how we use them and how we dispose of them as well,” an official of the department said.

Residents of Nagaland can apply for participating in the campaign by sharing one to five photographs and one video of not more than a minute to showcase the best practices of how they are celebrating a Green Christmas.

The same may be also shared on social media platforms with #NagalandForGreenChristmas.

The applications that are being taken in two categories – 16 years and above and 15 years and below, will be accepted till December 26.
