Assam reported 164 new Covid19 cases and 2 more deaths on Friday, taking the stateโ€™s positive tally to 2,11,204 and death toll to 971.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the stateโ€™s Covid19 status said the new cases have been detected out of 18,270 tests.

Assamโ€™s Covid19 positivitiy rate stands at 0.90%, Sarma informed.

โ€œ164 Cases detected out of 18270 tests conducted today, with positivity rate of 0.90%,โ€ health minister Sarma said.

Of the new cases, Kamrup Metro has reported 57 cases.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,07,026 patients have been discharged from the hospitals or Covid Care Centres after their recovery.

Health minister Sarma said 98.02% of the total positive cases have recovered in the state so far.

Assam currently has 3,204 Covid19 active cases, which is 1.51% of the total cases.

On Friday, two more patients died of Covid19, taking the death toll to 971.

The stateโ€™s death rate is 0.46%.

The deceased have been identified as Darani Barman (80) of Nalbari and Jamaluddin Ahmed (54) of Morigaon, the health minister informed.
