Azara Police in Kamrup Metro district on Tuesday arrested a total of 11 fake Army personnel near Guwahati Airport.
The police spotted the gang in Army camouflage at 2 am on Tuesday.

When contacted with the Army, the police came to know that the detainees are not personnel of the armed force.
Later the police arrested all the fake Army personnel.
The fake Army personnel have been identified Ganesh Das, Saurabh Sarma, Dhiman Krishna, Joy Moni Sarma, Nayanjyoti Gautam, Bijoy Moni Sarma, Dwijen Sarma, Ripunjoy Goswami, Rupam Sarma, Gyananda Das and Kaushik Bhuyan.

The fake Army personnel are residents of Patacharkuchi, Baihata Chariali, Nalbari and Sarthebari.
The gang came under the leadership of kingpin, Dhiman Krishna.
The gang was arrested from the MES area near Guwahati Airport on their way to the airport.
The police have seized a Maruti Swift car, 5 motorcycles and fake ID Cards from their possession.
Guwahati city police have started interrogating the arrested persons.
According to sources, fake appointment letters of the Air Force have been recovered from the residents of the arrested youths.
