CPI(M) Tripura state secretary, Gautam Das has said that a minister from the ruling BJP state government and an MLA has connections with the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).
Expressing deep concern over the increasing incidents of extremist activities, he said NLFT extremists have been serving extortion notices to people in many places of the state.
“Interrogation of NLFT extremists arrested from Panisagar has revealed that a minister of the ruling BJP state government and an MP have maintained contact with the extremist outfit,” said Das in Agartala on Monday.
“The state government should speak on the matter as it is a serious allegation,” he said.
Arms and ammunition being brought the state in large numbers were recovered from the Tripura-Mizoram border.
Das also requested the state government to bring back the Tripura State Rifles (TRS) personnel posted in Delhi as they are being engaged in jobs not related to their job profile.
