The body of an 18-year-old college student, who drowned in Longa river under Dotma police station in Kokrajhar district on Saturday evening, has been recovered.

The youth has been identified as Pankaj Brahma of Kamalsing village under Dotma police station.

A team from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police carried out a search operation since early morning on Sunday.

After several hours of searching, the team of SDRF and police personnel was able to fish out the body of the youth at around 3 pm on Sunday.

After the recovery, the body was sent for conducting post-mortem.

Officer-in-charge of Dotma police station, B Ramchiary on Sunday evening said, “The search operation was carried out since morning hours today and managed to fish out the body in the afternoon.”

The youth was a student of hotel management.

He was studying in Goa and went to Longa river for taking a bath but unfortunately, he drowned in the river.
