The BJP, East Karbi Anglong District Committee (EKADC) today held a Run for Unity in Diphu in Karbi Anglong district to mark the occasion of the 145th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Run for Unity is a nationwide party programme organized by the BJP.
The run began from the party office here at Rongnihang in the morning at 6 during which, BJP workers participated displaying banners and party flags.
The runners, dressed in sports and casual wear, ran for a distance of two kilometers.
“On the occasion of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 145th birth anniversary, we have organized a Run for Unity. The very title Sardar depicts he was a leader,” said Ajit Kumar Dey, member of autonomous council and general secretary of BJP, EKADC.
Patel spoke only after deep deliberation and took the right decisions at the right moment. For his strong decision making skills he was called the Iron Man, said Dey.
Several prominent BJP party workers, ward commissioners of the Diphu Municipal Board and former Diphu MLA, Bidya Sing Engleng took part in the run.
District presidents and secretaries of the Yuva Morcha, Mahila Morcha and Minority Morcha also participated in the programme.
