The snubbing unit from Canada landed at Kolkata Airport on Wednesday night.
The snubbing unit, according to Oil India Ltd (OIL), will take 14 days to reach Baghjan in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district by road.

Baghjan witnessed a gas well blowout on May 27, 2020.
OIL spokesperson Tridiv Hazarika said, “The snubbing unit has landed in Kolkata and it will take 14 days to reach Baghjan. Everything is under control and the diversion has been running successfully.”
According to OIL, the equipment, weighing 59,000 kg, boarded the An124 heavy-lift aircraft in Russia.

The An124 (ANTONOV) aircraft is the largest civilian transport aircraft and heaviest in the world.
“The snubbing unit will take almost 14 days to reach Baghjan as the trailer will travel only during the night,” OIL sources said.
On September 13, OIL succeeded in the restoration of diversion of gas from the blowout well to Baghjan Early Production System(EPS) and two flare pits.
