Three more deaths and 190 new COVID19 positive cases have been reported in the past 24 hours in Manipur, taking the state’s total tally to 12,679.

In the last 24 hours, three males, aged 85 years (Thoubal), 70 years (Imphal West) and 65 years (Kangpokpi) expired at RIMS, JNIMS and Shija hospital respectively, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of the health department, said in a press release issued on Thursday.

The cumulative number of deaths is 83.

The state reported its first death due to COVID19 on July 29 while the first COVID19 positive case was detected on March 24.

In the last 24 hours, 180 persons from the general population and 10 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases, the release said.

The new COVID19 positive cases were confirmed at 24 testing facilities in the state.

The positive cases from the general population are from 12 districts of the state.

All from the general population are locals without any significant travel history, it said adding they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Meanwhile, altogether 115 persons were discharged from 16 COVID care facilities including home isolation in the state, the release said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 12,679 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 2,877 and 9,719 respectively.

The recovery rate is 76.65%.

So far, 3,96,598 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 2,71,941 individuals were tested for COVID19 at various testing centres in the state, official sources said.
