The COVID19 positivity rate in Manipur is much lower than the national average and there is no indication that the COVID19 situation is going out of the control, health officials said on Tuesday.

“The COVID19 positivity rate is 4.76%. This is much lower than the national average of 7.5%,” said COVID19 Common Control Room in Imphal in a statement.

“There is no indication that the COVID19 situation is going out of control,” it said.

Stating that in order to augment the testing capacity in the state, the statement said a total of 1,35000 Rapid Antigen Test kits have been procured and up to 95% of the procured kits have been utilised.

Meanwhile, three females including one from Churachandpur and two from Imphal West expired at the district hospital of Churachandpur, RIMS and JNIMS respectively, the statement added.

The cumulative number of COVID19 deaths is 78.

The state reported its first death due to COVID19 on July 29 while the first COVID19 positive case was reported on March 24.

In the last 24 hours, 125 persons from the general population and 10 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases.

The new COVID19 positive cases were confirmed at 19 testing facilities in the state.

The positive cases from the general population are from 14 districts of the state.

All from the general population are locals without any significant travel history and they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, the statement said.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,  it added.

Altogether 148 persons have been discharged from 18 COVID care facilities including home isolation in the state, it said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 12,240 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 2,680 and 9,482 respectively.

The recovery rate is 77.46%.
