The National Health Commission of China has issued the latest version of COVID19 prevention and control guidelines.

This is the seventh version of the guidelines released by the Commission.

The Commission has made revisions in contents such as COVID19 etiological and epidemiological features, as well as epidemic monitoring and handling.

According to a media report, the latest version of the guidelines stressed that the disease is mainly transmitted via respiratory droplets and close contact.

It said there are risks of infection when people are exposed to contaminated objects or environments under certain conditions.

The guidelines said when 5 or more cases that are linked by the same location of exposure are confirmed as positive, it is regarded as an infection cluster, which identified the occurrence of two or more such confirmed cases as an infection cluster in previous versions.

The guidelines gave specific criteria for imported cases, new infections linked to imported cases, and close contacts, among other terms for the convenience of epidemiological investigations.

As per the latest version of the guidelines, after taking a COVID19 test at ports of entry, the passengers entering the mainland should spend 7 days in isolation centers for medical observation.

The passengers will have to take another test before completing the quarantine period, said the guidelines.

If the test results come out negative, the passengers from outside the mainland can isolate themselves at home for another 7 days before they are free to travel around, according to the guidelines.
