One person was killed while three others were injured in two different election-related incidents in Nagaland on the day of polling to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Early in the morning at 5.45 am before the polling started, one person was injured when unknown miscreants triggered a blast at polling station no. 20 under Tizit Assembly constituency in Mon district.

When contacted, OC, Tizit police station, Chenai Konyak confirmed that a blast took place inside the polling station in which one person sustained injury in his leg. He was later taken to Assam for treatment, he said.
The OC also said it was a low intensity blast in which some furniture of the polling station were also damaged. However, polling started at the scheduled time at 7 am and it was peaceful throughout the day, he added.
One person was killed when supporters of Naga People’s Front (NPF) and Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) engaged in a clash and later resorted to firing near Akuluto South Wing polling station in Akuluto Assembly constituency under Zunheboto district at 11.30 pm.

Sources said the deceased was shot at in the chest and he later succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Avika of Mapulumi village. He was stated to be an NPF supporter.
Two other persons were injured when IRB (Indian Reserve Battalion) personnel opened fire to quell the violence between the supporters of the two parties, some of who were armed.
However, the polling continued later and people were seen coming out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
Elsewhere in the state, including Dimapur and Kohima, the polling passed off peacefully and there were no reports of any violence during the day.
