At least five localities of Aalo in West Siang district have been declared as containment zones after 5 more positive cases of Covid19 were detected from the district headquarters on Saturday.

West Siang deputy commissioner Moki Loyi said: “The New Market area, Puak Gumin, Sipu Puyi, Cozy Resort and Humgo Rigo Resort would now fall under the containment zone category as these areas have witnessed a sudden spike in the number of Covid19 cases in the past few days.”

The administration, medical team, police and volunteers deputed by Aalo Town Development and Welfare Society are bracing through a tough time following the surge in Covid19 cases, said Loyi.

All suspected persons involved in the recent ‘party incident’ are being tested at the Government Higher Secondary School, Aalo while teams are also scattered at different places to carry out the contact tracing works, Loyi added.

The DC said the colonies and market committees are giving full support to the contact tracing team led by district surveillance officer Dr Jombom Kato.

A ‘DJ Nite’ held at Humgo Rigo resort near Aalo on August 29 has resulted in more than 100 persons testing positive for Covid19 until Saturday.

The district administration had imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in Aalo on Friday after 49 people, who attended the event, tested Covid19 positive a day earlier.

The district reported 42 new cases of Covid19 on Friday, of whom 35 were the primary contacts of a positive case detected earlier.

The central executive committee of the Galo Students’ Union (GSU) has condemned the infamous ‘DJ Nite’ incident which was organized by the Bili Bolo Boys.
