Lakhimpur district records the first COVID19 death as an elderly woman died of infection in the late evening in North Lakhimpur.
The 60-year-old woman, who was a COVID19 positive patient, had fever and respiratory problems when she was admitted to the hospital.
The deceased hails from the Milan Nagar locality of North Lakhimpur.
However, her death is yet to be declared as COVID19 death by Assam’s Death Audit Board.
Earlier, one doctor in North Lakhimpur tested positive for COVID19 on Wednesday.
Dr. Surajeet Baruah, a private practitioner in North Lakhimpur, tested positive for the virus following swab test.
Meanwhile, the total number of patients tested positive for COVID19 in Lakhimpur district has crossed 400 after the single day spike of 32 cases on Thursday.
Out of the positive cases, detected on Thursday, seven patients are personnel from 13 APBn based at Lilabari.
In the last 24 hours, Assam has registered 1,047 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 28,791.
A total of 1349 patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, were discharged from various hospitals in Assam on Thursday.
On Thursday, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet revealed death of four more persons in Assam due to COVID19 infections, taking the overall toll to 70.
The patients, who succumbed to COVID19 infections, have been identified as 75-year-old BL Ajit Saria from Kamrup Metro, 43-year-old Baldev Singh from Jammu & Kashmir, 40-year-old Samim Ahmed from Karimganj and 53-year-old Dilip Kr Roy from Kokrajhar district.
