The COVID19 death tally in Tripura increased to 8 with the demise of one more person in the state while the state registered 254 new positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 3,348.

Confirming the death of one more person in Tripura due to COVID19, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a tweet on Tuesday said: “Unfortunately, 1 COVID19 positive patient died today.”

The chief minister the tweet said a total of 5,185 samples were tested on Tuesday, out of which 254 were found positive for the virus.

The chief minister also informed that 81 other patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various district Covid Care Centres (CCCs) after they tested negative.

“Also, 8 COVID-19 patients have been discharged today from various District CCCs after their test results came negative,” Deb tweeted.

Subsequently for the third day on Tuesday the state registered more than 200 new COVID19 cases.

On Monday, the state recorded 202 cases while on Sunday, 223 cases were reported in Tripura.

The West Tripura district has reported the maximum number of positive cases.

Out of the 254 people tested positive for COVID19 on Tuesday, 65 are from West Tripura district.

While 36 infected patients are from Gomati district, 28 are from Sepahijla, 33 are from Dhalai district, 48 are from North Tripura, 29 are from South Tripura, 3 are from Unakoti and 12 infected patients are from Khowai district.

Of the infected people, 22 are flight passengers, 25 are symptomatic, 165 were identified by antigen tests, 21 were infected after coming in contact of infected people, 3 infected patients are from containment zones and 18 other patients have travel history.
