A mobile shop in eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh has become COVID-19 hotspot after 14 positive cases were detected from the shop on Tuesday.
Altogether, 13 cases through contact tracing were detected from the mobile shop ‘Mangalam’.
Every day COVID-19 positive cases are rising in Dibrugarh and so far 413 positive cases were detected in the district.

“We have detected 13 COVID-19 positive cases at a mobile shop here through contact tracing. We have collected the swabs of the persons who came in contact with COVID-19 positive and found all of them to be positive,” said Dibrugarh joint director of health services, Dr Nabojyoti Gogoi.
The shop was declared as a containment zone.
“So far 15 policemen were also detected with COVID-19 positive. All of them were admitted at AMCH for further treatment,” Gogoi added.
One BCPL engineer was tested COVID-19 positive on Monday.
Since July 5, the engineer was shifted in his residence.
“People should avoid crowded places and wear masks whenever they go out and sanitize their hand frequently,” said Gogoi.
“Our health team has been working 24 hours to combat the deadly virus. We have made all arrangements for the Covid 19 patients at AMCH,” he also said.
Speaking to Northeast Now over phone, one of the COVID-19 patients admitted to AMCH said they are getting good food at the hospital.
“Recently I had come from Kolkata and detected COVID-19 positive after landing at Dibrugarh airport. My Swab was taken after landing and I am at a private hotel for seven days and after that health officials brought me to AMCH. Everybody is healthy at AMCH and we are getting proper treatment at the hospital,” the patient added.
