Assam has registered 696 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 14,032.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet at 11.30 PM on Wednesday said out of the 696 new positive cases, Guwahati alone has reported 423 cases.

Due to surge in positive cases, health minister Sarma has urged the citizens to follow precautions strictly.

“Alert ~ 696 new #COVID19 cases detected today, 423 from Guwahati City alone. People are expected to follow precautions strictly,” Health minister Sarma tweeted.

According to the data shared by the health minister, a total of 8,726 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam.

On Wednesday, a total of 397 patients were discharged from the hospitals in Assam.

Assam currently has 5,281 active COVID19 cases.

In Assam, the deadly disease has claimed the lives of 22 patients, including six on Wednesday, so far while 3 cases have migrated from the state.

In the last 24 hours, Assam has recorded death of 8 COVID19 positive patients.

With 482 deaths and 22,752 positive cases in the last 24 hours, the number of India’s COVID19 cases has reached 7,42,417 including 20,642 deaths, 2,64,944 active cases, and 4,56,831 recoveries.
