Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar called upon the working class people to take a lead role in the formation of the eighth Left Front government with more votes, seats and strength.

Addressing a CITU rally at Vivekananda ground in Agartala on Sunday he alleged a deep rooted conspiracy to defeat the pro-poor Left government in Tripura.

Urging the people to resist ill-design against the Left Front government Sarkar said, “They will turn India into a nation with its religion, they will decide what one will eat, wear or make friendship with whom. In the name of gaourakshak they are creating lot of troubles and during the last one month more than one hundred have lost their lives. They are trying to create such an atmosphere here. It is a deep rooted conspiracy and the only reason is because you people – workers, farmers, daily labourers, small shop owners, tribal, scheduled caste, minorities have formed this government for you maintaining peace and within its limited financial ability is trying to serve you.”

Admitting that his government may not have solved every problem Sarkar said, “No one can say that this government knowingly has done anything which will be against the people of the state. We never claim that we have solved all problems; no state in India can do that without the help of the centre. But no one can allege that this government knowingly has done anything or taken any step which is not beneficial for the people.”
The Chief Minister was critical over the role of the RSS, the BJP and Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura. He also lashed out at BJP led Central government for working in favour of corporate houses.
Besides Sarkar, CITU leader Hemlata, MP Sankar Prasad Dutta and minister Manik Dey also addressed the rally.
