A total of 50 frontline Covid19 warriors of Dima Hasao were felicitated and honoured in Haflong at the initiative of the Haflong Welfare Association.
The health secretary to the North Cachar Hill Self-Government Council, TT Daulagupu, joint director of the district health department Dr. Dipali Barman, superintendent of Haflong Civil Hospital Dr. Kalpana Kemprai and the hospital administrator were present as special guests.
The programme was held at the conference hall of the Haflong Civil Hospital.
Northeast Now’s Haflong correspondent and general secretary of the Association, Pankaj Kumar Dev, delivered the welcome address.
He said due to the tireless efforts of the doctors, nurses and firstline health workers and cleaners, the Covid19 victims are recovering and returning home.
The ambulance drivers have also been carrying Covid19 positive patients from one place of treatment to another risking their lives, he said
Doctors, nurses, lab technicians, ambulance drivers and cleaners were felicitated with scarves and small gifts.
This is for the first time that any organization has come forward in Dima Hasao district to honour the doctors and other health workers who have been tirelessly fighting against the Covid19 pandemic in the district.
Among the doctors present on the day were Dr. Ajay Paul, Dr. Nitanan Niding, Dr. Ajit Kumar Kakati, Dr. N. Nunisa, Dr. Viva Bora Gayan, Dr. L. Newme, Dr. SC Nampui and others.
NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) secretary Daulagupu unveiled a special banner on Coronavirus awareness on the occasion.
Daulagupu lauded the initiative of the Huflong Welfare Association to honour the doctors and other health workers. He is looking for victory in the battle of Covid with the help of these warriors.
Ashish Dutta, vice president of the Association spoke on the occasion and advisor Manik Das, working president Sekhar Subhan Dey, Pritthish Bhattacharje, Sudip Chakraborty, Samit Chowdhury, Uttam Dey, Jahar Paul, Ashim Mazumder, Jaydip Aditya, Rupom Roy, and Bidesh Deb were present.
