Assam has registered 193 more COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 3,285.
Confirming the news in a tweet at night on Wednesday, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said with the new cases, the state has registered a total of 235 cases on the day.
“Alert ~ 193 more #COVID19+ cases reported in Assam, taking today’s total to 235,” health minister sarma said in the tweet.
The number of active COVID19 cases in Assam now stands at 2,027.
Earlier, a total of 1,249 COVID19 patients were discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery.
The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 6 persons while 3 cases migrated from the state.
“Total cases 3285. Recovered 1249. Active cases 2027. Deaths 06,” Sarma added.
Assam recorded the sixth COVID19 death on Wednesday.
The infected person, identified as Kamal Krishna Pal, died in Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH) while undergoing treatment.
Pal, who had been suffering from cancer, went to Mumbai for treatment. He reached Tezpur on May 29 after arriving in the state by a flight.
Pal, a resident of Tezpur town, tested positive for COVID19 on May 31.
Health minister Sarma on Wednesday held a review meeting at the state office of the National health Mission (NHM) in Guwahati along with the minister of state for health, Pijush Hazarika, principal secretary to heath
Samir Sinha and the NHM Assam officials on COVID19 management in the state.
“We’ve feedback from districts which is helping us customise our interventions,” Sarma said in an earlier tweet.
