Three foreign nationals, who did not have any documents issued by the Department of Immigration, were apprehended by the Royal Bhutan Police (RBP) recently.
The three nationals were apprehended from a private construction site close to the international border at Pekarzhing under Phuentshoing Thrombe.
All three nationals had entered Bhutan secretly in collusion with the site supervisor.
The case is currently being investigated by the Department of Immigration and Royal Bhutan Police.
“The three workers and the site supervisor have committed a serious offence and will face severe consequences including punitive action,” informed the COVID-19 Task Force.
“They shall be charged and prosecuted as per the law for violating provisions of the Penal Code and Immigration Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan” the task force added.
The task force further informed that the three foreign nationals and the site supervisor had tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
