An extraordinary wedding that is quite similar to a movie scene had recently been conducted at the Sagolia check-post along the Assam-Bengal border.

As per reports, a 29-year-old Om Prakash Jha of West Bengalโ€™s Jalpaiguri district had to get married to Kajol Shah of Assamโ€™s Dhubri district at the check-post itself as the groomโ€™s family was not allowed to enter Assam for the marriage ceremony.

Although the couple got engaged way back in November last year and was supposed to get married this month, fate ruined their plans of a dream wedding after the nationwide lockdown was announced to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

However, both the groomโ€™s and brideโ€™s families had approached the administration for permission for a wedding celebration on May 23.

With permission granted, the wedding was to take place in the brideโ€™s house in Assam.

However, when the groom and his relatives arrived at Sagolia check gate on the border, the Dhubri district police did not allow them to travel further in view of COVID-19.

When the authorities suggested that the wedding be conducted at the check-post itself, the brideโ€™s and groomโ€™s side both agreed to it.

After the necessary arrangements were made at the check-post and the bride with her family had arrived, the wedding took place.

Ashwini Ray Sarkar, the MLA of Dhubri districtโ€™s Golakganj attended the wedding to bless the couple.

However, when the newlyweds along with the other attendants went back to their village in West Bengal, they were put under home quarantine for 14 days.
