Assam has registered the first air carrier COVID-19 positive case on Wednesday.

The infected person is a resident of Kamrup Metro, who travelled from Ahmedabad to Guwahati.

Among with this the State has registered another 18 new COVID-19 cases taking the state’s total to 704 on Wednesday.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet said among the others 14 are from Golaghat, two from Karbi Anglong and one from Lakhimpur.

Earlier, a total of 62 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across the state after their complete recovery.

The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of four persons in Assam while three cases migrated from the State.

At present the State has 635 active COVID-19 cases.
