The Centre on Monday has expressed serious concern following spike in COVID-19 cases in the northeast state.
“The increasing number of cases in states likes Assam, Meghalaya and even Tripura are really a matter of concern,” said a senior union health ministry official to Northeast Now.
“We have asked the state governments to follow the guidelines from the Health Ministry from time to time,” the official added.
However, Nagaland is the only states in the region which does not register even a single case.
The development took place in less than a week after DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh said that five states of northeast including Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim are COVID-19 free.
India with 1,38,845 cases on Monday has entered in to the list of 10 maximum COVID-19 infected countries behind Turkey having 156827 COVID cases.
US leading the list of such country with 1643499 cases followed by Brazil 363211 and Russia 353427 COVID-19 cases, a survey conducted by US based Centre for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) said.
India’s COVID-19 recovery rate has also touched 41.87 percent.
