The Kamrup Metro district administration has declared the areas encircling Hotel Rajkamal at Fancy Bazar in Guwahati as Containment Zone after Mungru Sahani, a border of Hotel Rajkamal, tested positive for COVID19.

As per an order issued by the deputy commissioner of Kamrup Metro district, Biswajit Pegu, the boundary encircling the hotel that has been declared Containment Zone includes the M.G. Road in the north, Tarun Ram Phukan Road in the south, SACB Road in the east and the M.S. Road in the west.

The deputy commissioner in the order said the area has been declared containment zone “in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus in the said area encircling Hotel Rajkamal.

The Kamrup Metro deputy commissioner, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), has asked the circle officer of the Guwahati Revenue Circle to seal the area with immediate effect.

“Any unauthorized entry and exit into the notified Containment Zone is barred till the area is declared safe as per guidelines of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI,” said the order.

The order also said: “Any movement of any unauthorized individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect.

All statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing will be strictly enforced in the sealed area, the deputy commissioner said in the order.

The order, which has been effective since 10 AM on Tuesday (May 12), has been issued under the regulations “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020” and will remain effective until further order.

Any violation of this order will attract action under the provisions of “The Assam COVID-19 Regulations, 2020”, “The Disaster Management Act-2005”, “The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897” and other relevant laws in the nation, the order further said.

Mungru Sahani and Amarjyoti Deka, a resident of Morigaon district, tested positive for COVID19 in Guwahati on Monday.
