Within four hours of the detection of a COVID19 positive case in Goalpara district, Assam has registered another positive case on Tuesday taking the total to 44.
The new COVID19 positive case has been detected in the Kokrajhar district.
This has been confirmed by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Health minister Sarma said the infected person from Kokrajhar district has a travel history to Cooch Behar in West Bengal.

With this, the number of active COVID19 cases in Assam has risen to 11.
Out of the total 44 COVID19 cases registered in Assam so far, 32 patients were earlier discharged from various hospitals across the state after their recovery from the disease.
The deadly disease has claimed one positive patient in Assam.
Sarma tweeted: “Alert ~ One person from Kokrajhar dist, with a travel history of Cooch Behar in West Bengal, has tested positive for #COVID19. Total #COVID19 patients in Assam now stands at 44.”

India has registered 46,433 COVID19 positive cases so far including 1,568 deaths.
