The Tripura unit of CPM has demanded free ration and financial support for all families in the State, who are below the income tax payment level.
CPM Tripura state secretary Goutam Das highlighted their demands in the all-party meeting, which was convened by chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb at state civil secretariat.
Goutam Das said lockdown is mandatory for prevention from coronavirus.
But due to lockdown the poor people are facing myriad problem.
Their condition is worsening day by day, he said.
He demanded for free ration and monthly financial support to all citizens of the State who are below the income tax payment level.
The CPM has demanded free ration and monthly Rs 7500 for consecutive three months for these families.
They also mentioned that, in free ration seven kg rice or wheat and other articles should be provided.
The party also urged the State Government to provide personnel protection equipment (PPE) for all health workers of the State to protect the frontline worriers from COVID-19.
He also urged the State Government to support the farmers of the State, who are beyond the barbed wire fencing of Indo-Bangla border.
Das also demanded for free distribution of seeds, fertilizer to the farmers of the State, who are in distress during month-long lockdown.
Das alleged that the party workers were attacked in 14 places during distribution of free ration and other relief items to the people in need.
Though the matter was reported to police, no action was taken so far, he alleged.
