Assam Government on Thursday has withdrawn containment zone restrictions on Spanish Garden in Guwahati.

The containment period of the posh apartment premises at RG Baruah Road was extended for more 14 days recently through a notification issued by District Disaster Management Authority.

The decision was taken in accordance with the revised COVID-19 guidelines.

“As no COVID-19 Positive case has been detected since declaration of Spanish Garden Apartment and its periphery as CONTAINMENT ZONE vide this office’s order no. DDMA-K (M) 03 /2020/26; Dated: 04/04/2020, hence as per guidelines received from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the CONTAINMENT ZONE is no longer effective and the restrictions that were so imposed, have been withdrawn w.e.f. today i.e. 30 April 2020,” stated in a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Disaster Management Authority Kamrup Metropolitan District.

The Spanish Garden premises were sealed earlier last month after one of its residents, Manish Tibrewal, had tested positive for COVID-19.

He was admitted to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and was released on last Sunday after a series of tests.

However, the restrictions imposed in connection with lockdown will remain in force till further notification.
