Bollywood celebrities have appealed to the patients who have recovered from COVID-19 to donate blood and help to save the lives of other coronavirus patients.

Taking to Twitter, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan asked recovered ‘corona warriors’ to donate their blood in order to overcome the ‘invisible enemy’ coronavirus.

If you’ve recovered from COVID19, you are a Corona warrior. We need an army of such warriors to overcome this invisible enemy. Your blood contains the bullets that can kill the virus. Please donate your blood, so others, especially the serious ones can recover. Sign up now,” he tweeted.

Devgan also shared a snapshot of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s convalescent plasma donation campaign which seeks to collect blood from recovered COVID-19 patients so that it can be used to save serious coronavirus patients.

Recovered COVID-19 patients have antibodies that can protect against the virus. They can now donate their blood & plasma 4 weeks after recovery or post negative swab tests & contribute in the fight. Interested donors can contact at: [email protected],” the BMC  said in a tweet.

Bollywood actors Hrithik Roshan and Varun Dhawan also shared how city-based Kasturba Hospital is on a “mission” that needs the support of all those who have successfully recovered from the coronavirus.

“If you have surpassed the 14-day quarantine after testing positive, and after the last negative result, your blood contains cells that can kill the virus. If you donate your blood others can recover too, especially those who are serious. Please sign up now to donate your blood and save lives,” the duo wrote.

Many of the states are now looking forward to convalescent plasma therapy as a suitable treatment for serious coronavirus patients.

Convalescent Plasma therapy is a process in which blood plasma from a patient who has recovered from COVID-19 is transfused into a critically ill patient so that the specific antibodies present in the blood of the recovered person can help fight the infection.
