The total number of coronavirus cases in the country had reached 17,615 on Sunday.
This was informed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in its daily update.
The death toll in the country has jumped to 559, according to the Worldometer data even as the country is under lockdown.

Though some relaxations have been announced from Monday, the Delhi government, however, announced on Sunday that it would not allow any lockdown relaxation yet and would prefer to monitor the situation for another week before taking a call.
Meanwhile, some of the relaxations announced in most of the states that have successfully reduced the spread of COVID-19 include construction, select industries/industrial establishments (both government and private), MNREGA works, etc.
Globally, 2,407,339 people have been infected and 165,069 people have died, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.
Coronavirus-related deaths in the US have topped 45,000, with New York recording nearly half of all casualities.
