The ceasefire between the GPRN/NSCN, also known as NSCN (Neokpao-Kitovi) and the Centre, was extended for another six months on Thursday.
In a release on Thursday, the ministry of information and publicity of the outfit said the yearly ceasefire agreement between the GPRN/NSCN and the government of India, which is due to expire on April 27, has been extended for further six months.
The release said both the Centre and GPRN/NSCN are constantly deliberating for a lasting peace in the land of the Nagas with the involvement of the Naga people.
However, it said, normal proceedings in the deliberations are “unfortunately hampered” due to the unprecedented global COVID19 pandemic.
It said the ceasefire was mutually extended on April 16 for a period of six months with effect from April 28 till October 27 with subjection to adherence to ceasefire ground rules in the spirit of seriousness to maintain chain of peace in the state and modalities of resolving issues.
