In a noble gesture, a private sector school of Tangla town in Assam’s Udalguri district has waived the fees for a month amid the COVID-19 crisis.

The step has been taken to relieve the parents from the financial hardship amid the lockdown.

The Tangla English Medium High School (TEMHS), a pioneer school of the town, waived off the fees which was decided in a meeting of its school management members on Wednesday.

“We fully understand that in the prevailing circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, restricted access to banks, general hardships of the self employed persons and the slowdown in economy we would need to support our parents’ fraternity pro-actively. We have waived the tuition fees of the students for a month,” said Mahendra Bharali, the managing director of the school.

“We are indebted to the school management for standing in solidarity with the parents’ fraternity in these trying times as we are already facing financial crunch amid the lockdown,” said a parent.
