The Meghalaya government has decided to extend the anti-COVID-19 lockdown till April 30.

This was approved by the state cabinet on Monday.

The cabinet also decided that inter-district and inter-state movement of people would continue to be restricted.

Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that after discussing about the national lockdown that expires on Tuesday, the state cabinet decided to extend the lockdown till April 30.

Earlier on April 7, the cabinet decided all government offices to start functioning with full staff strength from April 15.

The cabinet has decided farmers in rural areas will be allowed to resume sowing activities with immediate effect.

The government also decided to allow MGNREGA activities in the State.

Construction works (viz. road construction, etc.) and other allied developmental programs sanctioned by the government in the last financial year is allowed to restart from April 15.

The Cabinet also decided to allow the reopening of weekly markets in rural areas from April 15.

Private transportation will be allowed to resume from April 15
