The Tripura Police on Tuesday arrested a man for raping his own 12-year-old daughter.
The fresh incident of minor’s rape has taken place at Bishalgarh under the Sepahijala district.
The rapist has been identified as Jahangir Mia.
The incident came to light when the mother of the victim girl lodged a complaint with the Bishalgarh police station on Tuesday against her husband.
On the basis of the complaint, a team from Bishalgarh police station arrested the culprit.
The mother alleged that since the last couple of months, Jahangir Mia had been raping his 12-year-old daughter.
But in fear, the girl did not reveal anything before her mother or any other person.
“On Monday night when Jahangir Mia again tried to rape her daughter, the mother of the girl noticed it and prevented him from committing the crime,” said police sources.
“On Tuesday morning, the mother of the victim girl told her neighbours about the incident,” added police sources.
The local people detained Jahangir Mia and tied him against a tree and then called the police.
On being informed a team from Bishalgarh police station rushed to the spot and arrested Jahangir Mia, said the sources.
Later, the victim girl’s mother filed a case against her husband.
The police have registered a case against the rapist.
