It has been alleged that a youth, later identified as Shah Alam of village Burha-Jayantipur on Tuesday morning came to Dumunichowki State Dispensary for a death certificate.
But as he failed to produce the requisite certificate from the local village head, medical officer Dr Sidharth Krishna Deka refused to the document.
This caused altercations between the local youth and the medical officer where the youth caught hold by the neck of the doctor and torn apart his shirt.
This followed two other attacks on the doctor allegedly first by one employee of the deputy commissioner’s office establishment and then again by a group miscreants.
Later police from Sipajhar Police Station managed to save the doctor.
Later on the basis of an FIR lodged by the victim doctor a case (No 193/2020) has been registered and prime accused Shah Alam has reportedly been picked up by police for interrogation.
Meanwhile police has registered a cross case against the doctor on the complaint of accused Shah Alam.
