Mangaldai is going to host the 44th Annual General Conference of the Assam Medical Service Association (AMSA) with a three-day long programme from February 2 next.

The Darrang district committee of AMSA and the organizing committee have completed all the necessary arrangements for the event.

Disclosing it before media on Tuesday evening, Joint Director of Health Services who is also the chairman of the organizing committee, Dr Rup Lal Noonisa informed that Mangaldai is going to host the AMSACON after a long gap of twenty years and about 200 delegates from all the district units are expected to take part in it.

In view of the smooth functioning and overall success of the AMSACON, the organizing committee has already prepared a budget with an approximate amount of Rs 10 lakhs.

While addressing media, the organizing secretary of AMSACON, Dr Nani Gopal Saharia stated that the inauguration of the delegates’ camp on the afternoon of February 2 by Dr Rup Lal Noonisa will mark the beginning of the conference followed by central executive committee meeting.

The programme on the second day will mark the flag hoisting by the AMSA president Dr Dilip Deva Sarma followed by smriti tarpan by AMSA general secretary, Dr Kanak Chandra Talukdar.

A colourful cultural rally showcasing the Darrangi folk culture to be inaugurated by Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das has also been planned in the morning of second day.

Darrang Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ashok Kumar Barman will inaugurate the delegates session on the second day while Superintendent of Police (SP), Sreejith Thiraviam will inaugurate the scientific session.

Sipajhar legislator Binanda Kumar Saikia will inaugurate the attractive cultural evening at district library auditorium. In the open session on the third day, a number of dignitaries including State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief of BTC Hagrama Mohilary and officials of the State Health department are expected to take part as invited guests.

The organizing committee of AMSACON have made an appeal to all sections of the society of the district to extend all possible help and cooperation to make the conference a grand success and to encourage the serving doctors in rendering their humble and dedicated service to the needy.

Office bearers of AMSACON including , Dr Dhruba Jyoti Saharia, and  Dr Arun Chandra Deka, also spoke before media regarding the preparation of the event .
