A social activist, Pramod Laxman Mahajan, a man on the mission to create mass awareness on organ donation in the country, has reached Sikkim on his motorbike tour ‘Bharat Organ Yatra’.
He was accorded a warm welcome on reaching Gangtok by members of Dirty Angels Motorcycle Club at Rangpo check-post.

He is scheduled to move towards Darjeeling on his motorbike on Friday morning.
Sixtyeight-years-old farmer-turn-activist, Mahajan is from Dhavali in Sangli district in Maharashtra.

He is presently on his motorbike tour to cover 25 states, 132 districts, 94 cities and distance of 17,500 kms on his Bajaj Avenger to create mass awareness on the importance of organ donation.
He is a member of Pune-based ReBirth Foundation, which has organized this motorbike tour.
This is the second edition of his ‘Bharat Organ Yatra’.
It is informed that in the first edition of his motorbike tour, he covered 19 states and distance of 12,500 kms and connected to 4.5 crores of people of different states and registered his name in Limca Book of Records.
Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Thursday, Mahajan said, “I have donated one of my kidneys to an Army jawan in 2000 and since then I have been promoting the importance of organ donation to save someone’s life.”
“That army jawan is presently living happily with his family and I am touring across the country with my mission,” he added.
He stressed upon the need to create mass awareness on the importance of the organ donation to save someone’s life.
“Last year I have covered 12,500 kms and 19 states and connected to 4.5 crores of the people and this time I have a target to connect to 15 crores of people to create mass awareness on organ donation,” he said.
“North-eastern states are the special focus area of my mission this time,” Mahajan added.
He mentioned that awareness on organ donation and its importance was not much available in the region so he has targeted to cover north-eastern states with his mission.
A Pune-based Mileage Munchers Bikers Group has also supported the mission by coordinating Mahajan with biker groups of different states.
On the same, he thanked DAMC for all coordination and supporting his mission in the State.
The second edition of the tour was flagged on January 18 last from Pune and has covered Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar before reaching Gangtok.
He is scheduled to move towards Darjeeling on Friday before leaving towards Assam and other north-eastern states.
“I am very happy and satisfied with the positive and encouraging response getting from different sections of the people. In my last tour, hundreds of police personnel and students have filled up forms for organ donation,” he expressed.
