Mizoram Assembly monsoon session
Mizoram Assembly's monsoon session will begin on August 25, with the Business Advisory Committee set to finalise its agenda and schedule.

Aizwal: The Mizoram Legislative Assembly will convene its monsoon session from August 25, Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama announced on Sunday.

Lalbiakzama said the Assembly’s Business Advisory Committee (BAC), comprising representatives of all legislative parties and chaired by the Speaker, will meet later this week to finalise the duration, agenda and schedule of the session.

The upcoming sitting will be the seventh session of the current Assembly since the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) formed the government under Chief Minister Lalduhoma in December 2023.

The 40-member Assembly is dominated by the ruling ZPM, which holds 27 seats. The opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) has 10 MLAs, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has two members and the Indian National Congress has one legislator.

The detailed business of the monsoon session will be announced after the BAC meeting later this week.
