Security personnel seized contraband worth over Rs 46 lakh in two different operations- one in Karimganj district of Assam and the other at Jiribam district of Manipur.
Border Security Force (BSF) personnel deployed at the Mubarakpur Border Outpost in Karimganj district recovered brown sugar packets and 1,100 tablets on Thursday night.
The BSF personnel suspect that the drug peddlers fled from the area and left the contraband substances behind after they saw the security personnel approach them.
“The value of the contraband substance is estimated to be around Rs 6,55,500,” BSF sources informed.
In another operation in Manipur, Jiribam police on Friday arrested a drug peddler and seized 140 grams of heroin worth of Rs 40 lakh.
The heroin was found stacked inside 10 soap cases and was kept concealed under the rear seat.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Abidur Rahman, was arrested and a case has been registered against him.
