Six people including two minors were killed in a road mishap that took place between Chongkham and Namsai town in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred at 2 Mile opposite the Poi Pee Mou ground.

The road mishap took place when a Santro Zinc car, bearing registration number AS-01-T-8555 was heading towards Chesing Wingko village in Piyong area.

The car, where there were 12 members of a family on board, collided with a loaded vehicle that was parked on the road at Joypure Habi Gaon under Namsai police station.

The victims in the car, belonging to the tea tribe, were returning from a marriage party.

The victims’ family hails from the Piyong area.

The driver of the vehicle Bablu Mura has reportedly gone missing while six of the injured are being treated at Namsai civil hospital.

“A minor child breathed her last on the way to Tinsukia,” informed Chow Anuradha Manchay, a local resident of the nearby village.

According to Manchey, the ill-fated vehicle, owned by one Junna Murah, was coming from Jaipore Habi Gaon under Namsai police station.

“We were returning to our home at Chesing Winngko village on Namsai -Diyun road under Piyong circle in Namsai when the tragic incident occurred,” said Manchey.

“All the 5 bodies have been brought to Namsai medical while another critically injured minor died on the way to Tinsukia,” said Manchey.

A team of Namsai police rushed to the site and helped retrieve the bodies.
