An Assam police constable, who was posted at Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal‘s residence, ‘committed suicide’ on Sunday night.
Identified as 49-year-old Babul Chandra Das, he was found hanging in a toilet.
Deceased das hails from Patharkuchi area near Pathsala in Barpeta district.
The deceased security personnel was deployed at the 10th Assam Police Battalion (APBN), Kahilipara.
“He was posted at an outside post of the Assam Chief Minister’s official residence in Guwahati,” Guwahati Police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta said.
Sources informed that the deceased was undergoing a heart disease treatment and police suspect Babul Chandra committed suicide due to depression.
It may be mentioned here that two years back a security guard shot himself with his service rifle at the CM’s residence.
