Days after disappearance of National Register of Citizen (NRC) data from the government website, the Communist Party of India (CPI) MP Binoy Viswam has written a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah seeking his intervention.
In his letter written to the home minister on Friday, Viswam criticized the government for its negligence in keeping such an important data safe.
“Given the sensitive nature of the data and your government’s lack of transparency these events are deeply worrying,” said Viswam.
He said that the loss of vital data raises numerous questions as to the efficiency of your administration and the politics being played with regard to the entire NRC exercise.
“As a member of Parliament and concerned citizen, I urge you to look into this matter at the earliest and take appropriate action,” said Viswam.
He said, “It is astonishing that the central government has failed to pay the service provider, Wipro, for such an important exercise that directly affects the fundamental identity of millions of citizens.”
Sudden disappearance of NRC data from the government portal has recently created a major controversy, with the opposition demanding explanation from the government.
