The Indian government will soon circulate new currency notes in one rupee denomination.
However, the new one rupee denomination notes will be printed by the Ministry of Finance.
The Reserve bank of India (RBI), which generally prints currency notes of various denominations, will not be printing the new one rupee notes.
A Ministry of Finance Gazette dated February 1, 2020, stated, โThe new one rupee denomination notes shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette, i.e. 7 February 2020โ.
There will be a number of new features in the new one rupee notes.

The new one rupee notes will contain the words โBharat Sarkarโ, above the words โGovernment of Indiaโ.
It will have the bilingual signature of Atanu Chakraborty, Secretary, Ministry of Finance.
The notes will have Multi-tonal Watermarks like Ashoka Pillar in the window without words โSatyameva jayateโ in Hindi, hidden numeral โ1โ in the centre and the hidden word โBharatโ in Hindi vertically arranged on the right-hand side.
It will have the replica of new rupee one coin with rupee symbol of 2020 issued with โSatyameva Jayateโ and capital inset letter โLโ in numbering panel.
The numbering shall be in black at the right-hand bottom portion of the note in ascending size of numerals from left to right and the first three alphanumeric characters (prefix) remains constant in size.
The reverse side of the note will contain the words โBharat Sarkarโ in Hindi above the words โGovernment of Indiaโ with the year 2020 on the representation of the one rupee coin with โ?โ symbol.
The โ?โ symbol will have design of grains, which will depict the agricultural dominance of the country and the surrounding design consist of picture of โSagar Samratโ the oil exploration platform and with the authentic rendering of value in fifteen Indian languages in language panel with the year figure shown vertically between โSagar Samratโ and language panel in international number.
The colour of the new one rupee currency note shall be predominantly pink green on the obverse and reverse in combination with others.
The notes will be rectangular in size with 9.7 x 6.3 cm dimensions.
