“The blasts in Dibrugarh were of low intensity which took place this morning in two places. Our team has reached the spot and started the investigation. Right now we cannot ascertain anything,” said a police source.

Notably, ULFA-I has carried out similar blasts during Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations on earlier occasions.

Like every year, this year also the ULFA-I has called for boycott of Republic Day celebration.

Though no one has claimed responsibility for the explosions, it is presumed that these bomb blasts on Republic Day were carried out by ULFA-I.

Through these explosions, the banned militant outfit seems to have asserted their presence in eastern Assam.
