Youth Congress president Kamrul Islam Choudhury was arrested for his alleged involvement in the vandalism during the anti-CAA protests in Guwahati on December 12, 2019.
He was rearrested on Thursday by the Dispur police.
After the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) was passed in the Rajya Sabha on December 11, protests against the Act turned violent in Assam, especially in Guwahati on December 12.
Islam was booked for his alleged involvement with the violence in Christian Basti area of Guwahati on December 12, reports said.
Islam, however, has refuted the allegations and said he is innocent and has been framed.
On December 12, after CAA was passed in the Rajya Sabha, hundreds of persons came out to the streets and participated in a massive protest.
People from all walks of life including students took part in the protests against CAA.
